40-Day Discipleship Formation Program

Our Lady of Guadalupe Discipleship Center - Peebles, Ohio

JESUS CALLS ALL CHRISTIANS TO GROW AS HIS DISCIPLES

Are you a disciple who wants to be seasoned with fire and salt, then the 40-Day Discipleship Formation Program can help you on your journey? If so, this is for you.

Fr. Albert Lauer, the founder of Presentation Ministries, developed the 40-Day Discipleship Formation for Spirit Filled persons to be equipped to evangelizing in their parish or community through the power of the Holy Spirit within a Home Based Community.

The 40-Day Discipleship Formation is a course that you can use for your own formation and at the same time be equipped to help form other disciples. Its content is amazing in its depth, as well as it's insight into the scriptures and the spiritual Life. Some of it will surprise even the mature Christian.

The formation consists of 13 teaching seminars. We realize that not everyone has the luxury of spending forty consecutive days, therefore the teachings can be done in segments over a couple years. Or you can come for any retreat that interest you. For those enrolled, we will assign a mentor to assist you throughout the scheduling of the seminars.

This formation is highly recommended for Christians who want to be fully alive in the Holy Spirit and become Christ's disciple, seasoned with salt and fire, to carry out the mission we have been given by Jesus, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations. Teaching them to observe all that I have commended you". (Mt. 28:19 )

IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO ENROLL IN FORMATION PROGRAM TO ATTEND A DISCIPLESHIP SEMINAR. YOU CAN REGISTER FOR INDIVIDUAL SEMINARS HERE

The following are the seminars that comprise the 40 Day Formation.

1. Living in Reality
This seminar helps believers firm up their foundation as it exposes possible cracks that erode real faith: areas in need of healing, hidden sin, and the influence of secular humanism.  It focuses on four basic realities revealed by Christ and obtained by repentance and total commitment.  The teaching concludes with the call to live a new life-style in the Spirit through family relationships.

2. How do I Seek the Kingdom?
This course provides building blocks for the Christian Life and a broad view of the Church established by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

3. Lifestyle in the Spirit

This seminar offers vital teaching on subjects avoided by many pastors like money and sex.  Learning in greater detail what the Bible says about work, Sunday worship, and true freedom will challenge the subtle worldly ways ensnaring many Christians today.

4. Self-directed Retreat (or guided)

Intimacy with God (Sacraments)
God wants to be intimate with His children.  His love is so astounding that one can barely imagine it, let alone understand it.  Come seek Him in the ways he has given to commune with Him.  “For no one hates his own flesh but rather nourishes and cherishes it even as Christ does the church, because we are members of His body,” Eph. 5:29-30.

5. Who Am I in Christ?
You are made in the image and likeness of God.  Jesus came to show you the Father and is Himself the image of His Father.  This seminar looks at the phases of life and how identity is formed (or not) in the likeness of God.   It teaches how God makes all things right in Jesus Christ.

6. Discover your Spiritual Gifts
There are many gifts of the Spirit listed in the Scriptures.  Saint John Paul II wrote:
“The Holy Spirit, while bestowing diverse ministries in Church communion, enriches it still further with particular gifts or promptings of grace, called charisms… The charisms are received in gratitude… They are in fact a singularly rich source of grace for the vitality of the apostolate and the holiness of the whole Body of Christ,” (Lay Members of Christ’s Faithful People, 24).  This retreat teaches how charisms function so you can seek, identify, and exercise the ones God has given you for serving the body of Christ.

7. Prophecy and Discernment July
We are told by St. Paul to seek prophecy above all other gifts in 1 Cor. 14:1. This seminar explains prophecy and why it is so important to seek it above the other gifts.  It also teaches about discernment, its importance in the spiritual life, and how to exercise it.

8. Intercession and Healing
Do you believe what Jesus said when he claimed, “whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these…” John 14:12 ff.  Satan can confuse us about God’s mercy and love, but this course offers the clarity, certainty and commitment necessary for a victorious Christian life of healing and intercession.

9. How to Teach the Bible in the Power of the Holy Spirit

Do you love the Bible and want to study it?  Do you want to know more about it?  These are good indications God may be calling you to teach the Bible.   This course of 14 lessons helps people hear the Holy Spirit and prepare Bible teachings.  A priest who took this course, along with his DRE, was so impressed that he thought it should be taught to seminarians.

10. Worship and Evangelization

Our founder, Fr. Albert Lauer, noticed an interesting correlation between Worship and our ability to evangelize.  We will share his insights and several other approaches to Evangelization, including St. Paul VI’s Apostolic Exhortation on Evangelization and St. John Paul II’s New Evangelization.

11. Building a Civilization of Love through Small Christian Communities Part I
A parish is more family than anything, a “community of the faithful.”  This seminar exposes the critical need for building community in parishes so that individuals and families not only survive within our modern culture of death, but thrive and spread the love of God.  It teaches people in the pews how to build home-based communities by the Holy Spirit.

12. Building a Civilization of Love through Small Christian Communities Part II
Being in Christian community is the best way to live out our Baptismal promises.  This teaching seminar covers 12 essential steps for sharing life with brothers and sisters in Christ.  Learn Biblical principles that propel us to go beyond superficial relationships and to evangelize others as part of a small home-based community.

13. Discipleship, Redemptive Suffering, and Mary
What does it mean to be a disciple of Christ?  What are the components and dynamics of discipleship especially in this culture of death?  These topics, plus redemptive suffering and the role of Mary, the model disciple, will be addressed in this Seminar.
